Do I need to worry about my internal manifold? There seems to be a lot of backfire.
Also thinking...maybe I do need to pick up that 68 torino GT out of the weeds and make it a good track/autocross/DD kinda car....

You'll be fine as long as you don't go too lean. I'd advise a ribeye or maybe a bacon double cheeseburger to stay safe.

Are the backfires coming through the intake or exhaust. When I'm on the NOS I often get backfires through the intake. If its exhaust that might mean an internal issue has occurred, either a low fuel tank or somethings wrong with your fuel lines...

It would have to be a 68-69 cyclone if you can find me one for 2500 thats not totally gone I may consider it.
